The Porterhouse Temple Bar

I found this place one Sunday afternoon while looking for the seminal oysters & Guiness experience - not at all an easy find in Dublin. What I found in the Porterhouse was a great example of a brewbar - good and varied inhouse brews as well as Irish, European and internationals. Nice chill environment, had a seat by the front window in the food area, but there are more relaxed seating areas from memory. I was there in Sept ‘05 so I don’t remember a lot of specifics, but the atmosphere was great, and the beer selection excellent - a perfect excuse to try as many as possible. Samplers are catered for really well with several options from a number of beer varieties available. Great beer menu which you can buy for €1 (high quality, so why steal it for this price?) - told me what I already knew about Australian beer. So I settle on 1/2 dozen oysters and a pint of their oyster stout, about €11 I think - I don’t drink darks at all, but it was Dublin and as was proved to me at the Guiness brewery up the road, it always tastes good from the source.
